Making structural alterations to a steel narrow-boat shell can be complicated, time consuming, costly and potentially even dangerous. Installing new fittings retrospectively by usual methods involves the 'stripping back' of the existing internal fitout in preparation for gas cutting & welding.
This will almost certainly mean transporting your narrow-boat to a workshop or dry dock, this takes up valuable time, not to mention being very expensive. Add to this the risks involved in steelwork carried out near existing woodwork and you could have a real headache.
Custom Boat Alterations
Originally we designed and fabricated a set of doors to replace what was an existing cabin side window. It came complete with its own structural frame which was screwed into pre-drilled holes. Then we discovered that, with the use of modern technology, we could safely cut an aperture into a boat, wherever it was needed, and that this method could be applied to all kinds of fittings.
The rest they say is history. Doors with hatches, roof hatches, pigeon boxes, control boxes and more - Kedian Engineering has the answer!

Need more space in your boat!
There are many options available to you when it comes to having your boat stretched. You need to decide how much extra room you need and where you would like the extra room in your boat.
Hulls are required to have a full hull survey which may reveal problems such as metal wasting and pitting so overplating to above the waterline is required.
